Come to Narrandera this Australia Day and celebrate in style. From the Australia Day Ceremony in the morning at the Narrandera Sportsground to kayaking and river tours in the afternoon at Rocky Waterhole with plenty of good Aussie food during the day. To help everyone keep safe please make a cost-free booking.
The day will begin at 7.30am at Narrandera Sportsground with breakfast available for purchase from the Narrandera Lions Club Food van. Starting at 9am the Australia Day Ceremony and awards, as well as Narrandera Sports Awards, will be Live Streamed via the Narrandera Shire Council Facebook page if you can’t make it to the Narrandera Sportsground. Please Like the Facebook page to receive notification about the live stream. See the very worthy Australia Day Award recipients, hear from this year’s Australia Day Ambassador Warren Potent, 5 times Olympian and Olympic medalist for prone rifle shooting. Narrandera Local Ambassador, John Sullivan and of course our Mayor, they will all be entertaining speakers. After the ceremony have fun participating in the usual thong throw, get a team together for the Tug O War (teams of 6 – 8) with a perpetual trophy up for grabs Children will be able to participate in our Australiana scavenger hunt with prizes and gifts.

From 1pm the team will be down at Rocky Waterholes with free kayak hire for both adults & kids and pre-arranged tours. Join one of the tours, some will be on the water and others on land. The types of tours will include river and creek ecology, aboriginal sacred sites, and bush medicine of the area. Bookings are essential for all the tours and you can also reserve kayaks to be assured of availability. A food van will be onsite so make it your Australia Day afternoon destination.
Entry to each event is cost-free but must be pre-booked to allow contact tracing, should it be necessary. Bookings will be available from now until January 24th (some activities maybe filled earlier) or if you are unable to book online please call the Narrandera Visitors Centre on 69595545.
